Racing To A Red Light
'Racing To A Red Light' is a series of text-based paintings that challenge the artifice and traditions of print advertising. Using a language that references vintage advertising and sign painting, the text elements are subverted to spell out new messages which are at odds with the graphic style of the image.
Mixing humour, mischief, and melancholy, my aim with Racing To A Red Light was to transform the profitable into personal, and raise new questions about the medium of advertising.
'Racing To A Red Light' showed at Unlovable Gallery in Toronto, ON to a great crowd and sold out shortly after. This work was made possible with a provincial grant from the Quebec Government.
